What does innovation look like?

CareerBuilder’s VP of Marketing, Dave Levin, was recently named a Brand Innovators 40 Under 40, which recognizes marketers’ accomplishments, expertise and innovation in digital media and emerging advertising technology platforms. Dave shares his advice for success, what makes a great campaign and why he loves working at CareerBuilder.

Single best piece of advice for all marketers?

Be comfortable with numbers! Ensure that every campaign has measurable KPIs and be ready to defend your marketing investment against those KPIs.

Who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

Growing up in Chicago, my parents and grandparents were both fantastic role models. My parents really stressed the value of education (not just formal) and constantly learning/studying. My grandparents taught me the value of hard work and never being complacent.

Best campaign you've seen lately?

There are three that come to mind:

  1. I am a huge fan of account-based marketing (ABM), and one of the best I have seen in recent years is from DocuSign. Well executed with strong content and personalization.
  2. UPS has been running Be Unstoppable and Proudly Unstoppable, which is a digital-first campaign targeting SMBs that has recently incorporated the use of influencers. They have done a fantastic job at extending the campaign into new channels.
  3. Obviously, Let’s Job It Up, by CareerBuilder!

Why CareerBuilder?

Connecting people with jobs is incredibly motivating. The technology we develop connects our business clients with 140-million candidates every day and contains powerful insight into the marketplace.

Also, every person I connect with here at CareerBuilder is motivated, passionate, intelligent and approachable. The people are awesome, and they truly make the job.
