What is your current role and in what role did you start with CareerBuilder?
I am currently responsible for global program and project management, release management, and user experience to support our evolving technology suite. I have a fantastic team representing each of those functions. Together, we support all of CareerBuilder's internal business units with planning and execution. I started as a Customer Service representative in September 2007, answering calls for our jobseekers who needed help navigating the website.
What do you enjoy most about working at CareerBuilder?
Ultimately, it is the variety of my work. I experience different parts of the business, solve problems with like-minded individuals, and see the results of our collaborative efforts.
What is your favorite project that you have worked on during your time at CareerBuilder?
That is a tough question because I have had the pleasure of working on a plethora of projects over the years. However, I will have to say my favorite project is the work I've done with our CB Cares D&I committee! CB Cares is an employee-led organization that helps foster our company culture through employee service, volunteering, diversity and inclusion.
While we have only begun the journey, it is exciting to see what we've been able to identify and accomplish within two months of forming as a team. Projects that prioritize positive impact on us as people and individuals are always the most important to me!
What advice would you give to some that is just starting out at CareerBuilder?
Find a mentor. It is easy to get 'lost in the busy' of what we are here to do every day, but you need to carve out time for enrichment and investment in yourself. Your mentor can be someone at the company or outside of the company – but find someone you can talk to, learn from, and who will help you grow.
What was your first job and what were your biggest take-aways from the experience?
My first job was as a customer service agent at a credit card activation company when I was 16. The biggest takeaway from that experience was the importance of being on a team and carrying your own weight when you have shared goals.
Where is your favorite place in the world?
That's easy - any tropical place is my favorite place in the world!
