Get to know CareerBuilder's new SVP of Staffing and Recruiting

Andrew Streiter, a long-time CareerBuilder employee, mentor and leader, was recently named senior vice president of CareerBuilder’s staffing and recruiting group – a group that services nearly 95 percent of the top 150 staffing groups in the country.

We sat down with Andrew to discuss his new role, the challenges facing the industry, and how he’s making it his mission to help clients recruit more efficiently and effectively.

CB: Can you tell me a little bit about your career path and how you came to lead CareerBuilder’s Staffing and Recruiting Group?

AS: I’ve always had a love for sales – in fact, my first sales job was as a door-to-door salesman. I started my career at CareerBuilder in 2005 as a national account executive, and from there held a variety of leadership roles, including area sales manager in New York and area vice president for both the West and the East Coasts. In 2015, I was asked to lead the Sourcing group and stayed in that role for three years, until I moved into my current role. I’ve held almost every sales role within the organization, which gives me a unique perspective into both the needs of our sales reps and the needs of our clients.

Also, leading the Sourcing team validated why recruiters are the best sales people – the work they do matters, because they’re helping people change their lives. Empowering recruiters became a huge passion of mine, and since they are some of CareerBuilder’s biggest customers, taking this new role has allowed me to work more closely with them.

CB: What are your biggest priorities in your new role?

AS: I would say one of my biggest priorities in my new role is ensuring we’re all accountable to our clients and that we are here to support them not only with our products but also as consultative partners. I want to make sure we’re delivering value to our customers every day and solving their business problems.

CB: What are you most passionate about when it comes to staffing and recruiting?

AS: At the end of the day, it’s my passion to help businesses find the right people for the right jobs using tools such as matching technology to get candidates placed in a short period of time. We provide value by helping to match job seekers with employers in a quick and efficient manner.

CB: What would you say are the staffing industry’s biggest challenges right now?

AS: In today’s incredibly tight labor market, with an unemployment rate under 4 percent, the biggest challenge is finding qualified candidates to fill roles. Currently, job seekers are only in the job market for a short period of time, so recruiters have to be fast and efficient and make sure they’re delivering the right people to their clients every day. What’s more, candidates have come to expect getting things done quickly and at the touch of a button, so employers have to provide the same type of candidate experience during the job search process.

CB: How can technology help combat some of the industry’s biggest challenges?

AS: Recruiters need tools that will help them find the right candidates at the right time and hire them quickly – before the competition does. Our Talent Discovery Platform, for example, allows recruiters to conduct intake meetings with hiring managers, pull data and insights, and source and engage with candidates – all in one place, ensuring recruiters are delivering the best candidates as efficiently as possible.

CB: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

AS: When I’m not at work, I love relaxing, unwinding and spending time with family and friends. I have two 10-year-old boys who love sports (especially New York sports), so they certainly keep me busy!

CB: Anything else you want to add?

AS: Just that I’m going on 14 years as a CareerBuilder employee, and it’s been really cool to be a part of the company’s transformation. I’m excited to see what the future has in store.
