Alltran Changes Recruitment Culture with Applicant Tracking System

Three years ago, when Sonja Thornton joined Alltran as the director of talent acquisition, their recruitment process was “very antiquated.” “We were using Excel spreadsheets and paper [to manage candidates],” she says. She quickly identified the crucial need for an applicant tracking system (ATS) that would take them into the 21st century and streamline the company’s recruitment process.

For instance, they can now use real metrics to explain why some positions are hard to fill and set expectations for time to hire.

Applicant Tracking makes it easy for candidates to apply to jobs, which sets a positive tone during the hiring process that “carries on once they [the candidates] get to our offices.”

Having worked with eight other ATS’s in her career, Thornton considers Applicant Tracking to be the best – not only for the quality of its product, but on a personal level as well.

“At the end of the day, the key is relationships,” Thornton says. “It’s important for me to know that someone heard my customer survey responses. It’s important to know that you guys are working to continue to build a good product and you’re not just done with development.
