New ADP Report Shows Continued Job Growth Among Small Businesses

Small businesses are continuing to add jobs in the second quarter of 2016, a new report from the ADP Research Institute shows.

According to the ADP’s Small Business Report, released Wednesday, small businesses with 1-49 employees created 93,000 new jobs in April 2016. This is up from 86,000 jobs that were added in March 2016 and the 76,000 jobs added in February.

Broken down by company size, businesses with 1-19 employees added 50,000 jobs, and businesses with 20-49 employees added 43,000 jobs.

Looking at individual sectors, small businesses in the goods-producing sector produced 8,000 jobs, those in the service-providing sector added 91,000 jobs.

The news is further evidence of a strengthening economy, and is consistent with CareerBuilder’s recent small business job forecast, which found that the number of small business employers who planned to add jobs in 2016 was up significantly from those who said the same last year.
